Provincetown's Lobster Pot Tree
A beloved holiday tradition born in 2004, celebrating the local lobstermen who make Cape Cod home.
A Tradition Born from Respect
In 2004, artist Julian Popko envisioned a holiday celebration that honored Provincetown's working watermen. He built the Lobster Pot Tree from real lobster traps, stacked and lit to create a beacon that rises above Lopes Square each December. What started as a singular gesture has grown into a cherished ritual, one that connects the season's warmth to the salt and labor that define Cape Cod's maritime soul.
